The modeled levels are an estimate from OHLCV of where other traders' stops may be concentrated — not broker orders. In Ampeld's own no-look-ahead test, price reached them no more often than a random level at the same distance, so they are not targets or predictions. Use them to check whether your own stop sits with the crowd. How we tested this
The calculation
How GBP/JPY position sizing works
Position size = (balance × risk %) ÷ stop distance per GBP unit, with JPY converted into the account currency.
Estimated margin = notional ÷ leverage. Leverage changes the margin reserved, not the loss between entry and stop.
Risk/reward = target distance ÷ stop distance. It says nothing about how likely either price is.
Worked example — the calculator's opening plan. A USD 10,000 account risking 1% (USD 100) with the stop 0.22 from a 209.78 entry (1× ATR) gives 0.7237 lots (72,372 GBP units): about USD 96,198 notional, 9.6× the account, and USD 4,810 margin at 1:20. That is arithmetic, not a suggested stop.
The planned loss is a price-distance estimate, not a maximum: spread, slippage, commissions, financing, gaps and close-out rules can make it larger. Everything you enter stays in your browser and is not sent to Ampeld or to analytics.
Sizing GBP/JPY
What to check before you trust the number
- One standard lot of GBP/JPY is 100,000 GBP; 0.1 lot is 10,000 and 0.01 lot is 1,000. The lot field is editable if your platform differs.
- One pip is 0.01 JPY on yen-quoted pairs, so a one-pip move on one standard lot is 1,000 JPY (about 6.34 USD at the delayed reference rate).
- Profit and loss on GBP/JPY is in JPY, not in your account currency. The calculator converts it at a delayed reference rate you can overwrite with your broker's.
- Forex trades around the clock on weekdays and closes at the weekend. A stop can fill beyond its price if the market reopens past it.

Questions
GBP/JPY sizing questions
How much is one pip worth on GBP/JPY?
One pip on GBP/JPY is 0.01 JPY. On one standard lot of 100,000 GBP that is 1,000 JPY per pip, about 6.34 USD at the delayed reference rate; on 0.1 lot it is a tenth of that. The current 14-period 1H ATR is 21.8 pips (0.218 JPY).
Why does the GBP/JPY result depend on my account currency?
Because GBP/JPY profit and loss is earned in JPY. The calculator converts the stop distance into the account currency before sizing, using a delayed reference rate that you can replace with your broker's.
